Web hosts are companies that provide space for your website on a server they own and make it available to the Internet. Your site may have a .co.uk address but be stored on a server in the USA.

There are many different hosting companies offering a myriad of different packages. Which to pick depends chiefly on how big your website is, any special requirements you may have, and your budget.

Use a hosting company

If you're planning a fairly large website for which you would like a substantial amount of bandwidth as well as storage space, and could do with extra facilities, it's almost certainly best to buy your own package. Costs vary from about £18 to £100 per year. Obviously the details will vary from one company to another and I'm happy to advise on which would be best for you.

Use sleath.co.uk hosting

If you are after a medium to small scale website it's well worth considering my own hosting option. My hosting is comparatively cheap and the only disadvantage is that you will not have direct access to some advanced features.

Unless you're expecting your site to be incredibly busy, there is usually simply no point spending the extra money.

In most cases I charge a flat fee of £10/year.
